War thunder xbox one8/5/2023 ![]() When the game is free and you're hoping to make the people who download the game on a lark into people who pay for it, first impressions will be terribly important. I would really love to see this game be a smash hit on Xbox, but some serious thought needs to go into the default controls. After I realised that I couldn't climb because pitch up (inverted) and throttle down were bound to R-stick Down despite the control menu saying they were mapped to opposite sticks. I realised this when I had to bind pitch, roll, yaw, and throttle to the same stick with the switch stick box checked to get them to actually perform the functions you'd expect them to. It just moves all the controls that default to the left stick to the right. Except it doesn't really switch sticks at all. I see that someone has seen that this could conceivably be a problem for someone and so we've been given the option to switch sticks. Why does it make sense to put the most important and most used movement controls on the left stick by default? 90% of the people on the planet are right handed. I understand that folks that play these types of games are used to configuring their own custom controller setups but the sticks are almost entirely reversed from what you'd expect after playing any and all games on Xbox (and most games on PC). I understand that this is early access but the control scheme is unintuitive as hell. I stopped playing for a bit and my PC crapped out on me so I decided to cough up the $20 and play some early access on Xbox One. I've played the game on PC for years and enjoyed it immensely. First of all, I'd like to say I love this game.
