The girl and I went our separate ways, to explore life and find our own paths. The Cougar was as much a part of our relationship as the feelings between us.Īfter graduation, the Cougar, in need of too many repairs to be reliable for traveling over 300 miles away to college, was parked. We spent hours cruising in that Cougar, going to football games, drive-in movies and hitting our favorite burger and pizza joints. In 2000, Hot Wheels designer Nathan Proch created the Deora II as an homage to the groundbreaking and original spirit of Hot Wheels cars. The 1968 Hot Wheels Deora became a huge hit and an automotive legend. Based on automotive designer Harry Bentley Bradley's illustration, the Alexander brothers created a low, cab-forward design with a front-opening cab giving it a very sleek, futuristic appearance. In 1964, Chrysler commissioned Mike and Larry Alexander to customize their new economy pickup, the Dodge A-100. The original Deora was part of the first Hot Wheels line in 1968. Though the Twin Mill is a life-sized replica of a toy, it's also a fully operational race car: one that puts out a total of 1400 horsepower!Īs Hot Wheels' 30th anniversary approached, someone at Mattel got the good idea to reproduce one of the little buggers in full size, and the Twin Mill was the logical, if grandiose, subject of choice. It's got not one but two supercharged GM 502 big blocks and four Edelbrock 4-barrel carbs. Having made its debut at the SEMA show in 2001, the Hot Wheels Twin Mill is a SEMA veteran, and it's easy to see why attendees have demanded repeat appearances.
